Korea Collaborating Center for WHO-FIC was designated by Korea Social Security Information Service first in 2012 and had played the role for 8 years and was relocated to the Ministry of Health and Welfare in July 2021 to effectively cope with various pending issues of WHO classification system and to reinforce cooperation system in Korea.
Main Roles
Collaborating Center for WHO-FIC supports development, revision and maintenance of WHO international classification system through cooperation with WHO and plays a role of bridge between WHO, related institutions and professionals in Korea
TOR1 | Assist WHO in its work to develop, maintain and revise the WHO Family of International Classification |

TOR2 | Contribute to international network of Collaborating Centers for WHO-FIC through cooperation with WHO |
TOR3 | Provide support for domestic users of the following international classification system at the request of WHO |
TOR4 | Encourage use of WHO-FIC classification system terms through translation of WHO-FIC data for national use, organization and enforcement of education course, development and sharing of education data with collaboration and support of WHO |
TOR5 | Support WHO-FIC quality confirmation procedure on collection and analysis of data, norms and standard, and mechanism of WHO-FIC classification system and support implementation and reinforcement of WHO classification system |

- Participation in development of WHO Family of International Classification
- directly participate in IFC revision and development tasks by commissioning 10 professionals of WHO Family of International Classification as international members
- Publication of Korean translation of WHO Family of International Classification
- carry out translation of ICD-11 in Korean to support use of WHO Family of International Classification in Korea and publish Korean version of ICF, WHODAS 2.0
- Collaboration with related institutions
- collaborate with related institutions such as Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service, Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine and National Statistical Office
- A unified communication channel with WHO
- play a role of unified communication channel between WHO and stakeholders in Korea as Korea Cooperation Center in charge of supporting utilization of WHO Family of International Classification
